At most ONE callout color over each ground+line pair. The annotation system carries the design, not color variety. The grid stays quiet; the signal marks only the active annotation.
A neo-grotesque carries structure; a precise monospace carries every metric, callout, and tolerance. Tabular numerals everywhere, decimals to 2–3 places, units always labeled. Without the mono layer this collapses into generic editorial.
Workhorse neo-grotesque at 400/500/600, tight 1.45 line-height for a document-dense feel. Single-family discipline with the display reinforces the engineered look — no warmth for warmth’s sake.
Six functional-looking ornaments. Each must point at a real thing, measure a real span, or stamp a real revision. Decorative-but-meaningless is banned — the whole thesis is credible precision.

#4 is hacker/CLI: green-on-black terminal screen. Here the mono serves annotation on paper/instrument-panel — dimension labels, tolerances, part numbers — not a command prompt. Mono alone isn’t this aesthetic; the leader-line/dimension system is.
