Mechabellum

18-month contract role leading publishing operations for Mechabellum on behalf of Dreamhaven.

Overview

Sole operator across all marketing and publishing for Mechabellum at Dreamhaven. I owned the Steam storefront, social platforms, editorial strategy, and every marketing campaign from the start of the partnership through its conclusion. To cover that much ground alone, I built AI-powered workflows that let one person operate across leadership communication and field-level execution simultaneously.

Role

Publishing Ops

Client

Dreamhaven

Duration

2024 – 2025

Scope

End-to-end, strategy through execution

The Challenge

Grow Mechabellum using only the revenue generated by sales of the game. Every marketing dollar had to come from operating revenue, and every dollar spent had to generate more of it. The target: 200,000 unit sales per year.

The Approach

Publishing operations covers a lot of ground. Community management, social media, content and editorial, marketing campaigns, creative production, influencer deals. Too much for one person to manage alone. Unless you build tools and workflows that eliminate the busywork and free you up for the work that actually moves numbers.

Creator Campaigns

Engaged over 50 creators in 2025. We built AI workflows that analyzed YouTube and Twitch data to identify creator overlap with communities adjacent to Mechabellum, then built target lists informed by trends and viewer data. After the tools identified the best fits, I personally spoke with and contracted every creator by hand.

Esports & Events

Multiple tournaments and marketing campaigns throughout 2025. We used AI tools to automate creative workflows, capture clippable replay moments, and build bespoke low-cost landing pages for each event.

Storefront & Pricing

Built automated tools to analyze our sales calendar and maximize the total number and duration of discount windows. Our analytics showed most unit sales come during sale periods. A deep-dive on discount strategy revealed that depth past 20% does very little to move units. 20% is the sweet spot.

Analytics & Reporting

Built dashboards to monitor game sales, wishlists, views, and live viewership from active campaigns. UTM tracking on every campaign to gauge individual ROI. Automated reporting for leadership to assess program health at any moment.

Results

We closed 2025 with 180,000 unit sales against our 200,000 target. Mechabellum remains profitable and cash flow positive today.
